About the Lab

Professor Kang-Neung Lee's research lab focuses on gastrointestinal disorders, particularly irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), with an emphasis on understanding the multifactorial pathophysiology involving the gut-brain axis, intestinal microbiota, immune modulation, and visceral hypersensitivity. The lab investigates novel therapeutic approaches, including proton pump inhibitor alternatives and natural compounds with anti-inflammatory properties, using preclinical and clinical models. Research also extends to functional gastrointestinal testing, such as lactulose breath testing, to correlate gas production with IBS symptoms.
