About the Lab

Professor Kang Woo Lee's research lab specializes in clinical and rehabilitative medicine, focusing on improving outcomes in chronic metabolic and neurological conditions. Key research directions include optimizing glycemic and cardiovascular management in type 2 diabetes, particularly through emerging pharmacotherapies like SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists, and enhancing motor function and balance in patients with cerebral palsy, stroke, and chronic musculoskeletal disorders. The lab also investigates innovative rehabilitation technologies such as robot-assisted gait training and hippotherapy, integrating biomechanical assessment with clinical outcomes. Additionally, it explores age-related changes in joint mobility and postural control in the elderly, aiming to prevent falls and maintain functional independence.

The Committee of Clinical Practice Guidelines of the Korean Diabetes Association revised and updated the 6th Clinical Practice Guidelines in 2019. Targets of glycemic, blood pressure, and lipid control in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were updated. The obese and overweight population is increasing steadily in Korea, and half of the Koreans with diabetes are obese. Evidence-based recommendations for weight-loss therapy for obesity management as treatment for hyperglycemia in T2DM were provided.

To evaluate the effects of horseback riding on gross motor function, activities of daily living, joint range of motion (ROM), spasticity and strength of children with cerebral palsy (CP). 29 children diagnosed with CP participated in the hippotherapy. To evaluate the changes before and after hippotherapy, joint ROM, muscle power and spasticity. Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) and WeeFim were used for evaluation of gross motor function and activities of daily living. In 26 children out of 29

Objective: To investigate the effect and the correlation of characteristics of joint motion of lower extremity according to aging on balance in elderly. Method: There were thirty nine healthy elderly subjects aged 60 and older. The subjects were divided into 3 groups by their age. Each group was measured with joint motion of bilateral lower extremities by goniometer. The subjects were evaluated with clinical balance tests [(Berg balance scale (BBS), Functional reach test (FRT), Tinetti's perfor

Objective: To investigate the effects of robot-assisted gait therapy on locomotor recovery in hemiparetic patients after stroke.Method: Twenty five stroke patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. Robotic training group received 30 minutes of robot-assisted gait therapy, 3 times a week for 4 weeks, while control group received conventional gait training with same duration and frequency as robotic group. Outcome was measured using Motricity index, Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA), function ambulat

SJR Q1Diabetic Medicine

AIMS: To examine whether long-term glycaemic control affects lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) levels in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus. METHODS: Eighty-nine Type 2 diabetic patients (38 men, 51 women) were recruited from the diabetes clinic. Based on HbA1c concentrations at baseline, patients were divided into two groups: those with HbA1c < 8.0% (n =45) and those with HbA1c > or = 8.0% (n=44). Comparisons of Lp(a) levels were made between both groups. The effect of long-term glycaemic control on L

Objective: To investigate static posturographic characteristics during balance control under virtual moving surround (VMS) using force platform and head mount display (HMD) device in patients with chronic ankle sprain as compared with that of normal adults. Method: Ten patients with chronic ankle sprain and 24 healthy adults participated. Center of pressure (COP) parameters were obtained for 20 seconds using force platform as total path distance and total sway area in following conditions (1) c

Constructing Impressions with Multimedia Ringtones and a Smartphone Usage Tracker
이강우, 추현승

In this paper, we studied facial impression construction with smartphones in a series of experiments with two smartphone applications: SmartRing and SystemSens+. In the first experiment, impressions of faces associated with different music genres (trot vs. classical) were compared to impressions formed from a facial image alone along the social warmth and intelligence dimensions. In the second experiment, the effect of similarity attraction was investigated by manipulating the extroversion of fa
