About the Lab

Professor Kee Young Lee's research lab focuses on indoor and outdoor air quality, with a particular emphasis on atmospheric pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NO₂), ozone (O₃), and nitrous acid (HONO). The lab investigates the sources, transformation, and health impacts of these pollutants in residential environments, using passive sampling and field monitoring to assess exposure levels. Research also extends to environmental health, including the effects of indoor air quality on children and vulnerable populations, as well as the sociocultural dimensions of environmental representation in media. The lab integrates environmental science, atmospheric chemistry, and public health to understand and mitigate exposure risks in everyday living environments.

Mass-circulation magazines were analyzed for the frequency and nature of advertising portrayals of Asian Americans, along several dimensions related to the “model minority” stereotype.
