About the Lab

Professor Ki Won Oh's research lab focuses on the molecular and hormonal regulation of bone metabolism, with a particular emphasis on the roles of adipocytokines, osteoprotegerin (OPG), and their genetic polymorphisms in bone mineral density and metabolic bone diseases. The lab investigates the interplay between adipose tissue-derived hormones, insulin resistance, and systemic conditions such as osteoporosis, hypertension, and fatty liver disease in Korean populations. Key research directions include the OPG-RANKL pathway in bone remodeling, the impact of serum adipocytokines on bone health, and the genetic associations of adiponectin and OPG with metabolic and skeletal disorders. Cystatin C는 일정한 속도로 생산되며, 연령, 성 별, 근육량이 Cystatin C의 생산에 영향을 미치지 않고, 작 은 크기와 염기성으로 인하여 사구체에서 자유롭게 여과되 며, 근위부 세뇨관에서 대부분 재흡수되고, 신세뇨관 분비와 혈액으로의 재흡수가 거의 없으며, 분석에 있어 간섭현상이 매우 적어, 사구체 여과율의 내인성 표지자로서 혈청 크레 아티닌과 비교하여 많은 장점을 가지고 있다 . 실제로 대부 분의 신기능 관련 표지자의 비교 논문들에서는 혈청 Cystatin C가 혈청 크레아티닌 보다 사구체 여과율과 신기 능에 대한 더욱 우월한 표지자로 일관되게 보고되고 있으며, 이에 대한 대규모의 메타분석에서도 혈청
