About the Lab
Professor Kim Namil's research lab specializes in the historical and philosophical foundations of Korean Oriental Medicine, with a focus on the evolution of medical thought, the indigenization of traditional Chinese medicine in Korea, and the classification of academic schools within Korean medical tradition. The lab explores how medical knowledge has been systematized, transmitted, and transformed over time, particularly through seminal texts like *Dongui Bogam*. It also investigates the impact of AI on human expertise, drawing parallels between historical learning processes and modern AI-augmented decision-making in complex domains such as Go and medicine. The lab emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, combining history, philosophy, and medical science to trace the internal development of Korean medical thought and its practical applications.

15Abstract Research Summary We study how humans learn from artificial intelligence (AI), leveraging an introduction of an AI‐powered Go program (APG) that unexpectedly outperformed the best professional player. We compare the move quality of professional players to APG's superior solutions around its public release. Our analysis of 749,190 moves demonstrates significant improvements in players' move quality, especially in the early stages of the game where uncertainty is highest. This improvement
