About the Lab
Professor Kwon Wook Joo's research lab focuses on renal pathophysiology, with a particular emphasis on the molecular mechanisms underlying kidney diseases such as nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, IgA nephropathy, and distal renal tubular acidosis. The lab investigates the roles of key signaling molecules—including aquaporin-2, DPP-IV/FoxO3a pathways, and H+-ATPase—in regulating renal water handling, fibrosis, and tubular function. Using both animal models and clinical studies, the lab explores therapeutic interventions such as thiazide diuretics, DPP-IV inhibitors, and oxytocin in modulating disease progression.
