About the Lab
Professor Kyung Hee Son's research lab focuses on environmental and biomedical applications of nanomaterials, particularly the development of stable and reactive zerovalent iron nanoparticles for environmental remediation. The lab also investigates microbial systematics and host-microbiome interactions, especially the role of dysbiosis in chronic airway and systemic diseases. Additionally, the lab explores clinical aspects of patient-centered care, hypersensitivity reactions to medical agents, and the interplay between respiratory health and mental well-being in aging populations.

The taxonomic status of Hongia koreensis was investigated by molecular systematic methods. On the basis of 16S rDNA phylogeny, H. koreensis was closely associated with Kribbella flavida and Kribbella sandramycini and formed a monophyletic clade with these species. The effects of high pressure on alliinase and on flavor of garlic (Alliiium sativum L.) were investigated.
