Professor Kyung Jae Yoon's research lab focuses on the intersection of biomedical engineering, clinical physiology, and precision health, with a primary emphasis on understanding the relationships between body composition, muscle function, and systemic health outcomes. The lab investigates how skeletal muscle mass, sarcopenia, and body composition—assessed through bioelectrical impedance analysis and advanced imaging—impact pulmonary function, inflammation, and metabolic health in both clinical and asymptomatic populations. Using large-scale population data and cutting-edge technologies such as sEMG-based gesture recognition and gut microbiome analysis, the lab explores sex-specific and biomarker-driven mechanisms linking muscle health to chronic disease risk.
