Professor Lee Changhyoup's research lab specializes in gravitational wave astrophysics and multi-messenger astronomy, focusing on the detection and analysis of gravitational wave signals from compact binary mergers, particularly neutron star binaries. The lab conducts advanced data analysis of signals from LIGO and Virgo detectors, integrating electromagnetic counterparts to study the physics of kilonovae, r-process nucleosynthesis, and the properties of neutron star matter. A key research direction involves improving parameter estimation and signal modeling using joint gravitational-wave and electromagnetic observations, such as those from GW170817 and GRB 170817A. The lab also investigates continuous gravitational wave emissions from rapidly spinning pulsars and transient signals from long-duration events.

A Quantum Heuristic Algorithm for the Traveling Salesman Problem

We propose a quantum heuristic algorithm to solve the traveling salesman problem by generalizing the Grover search. Sufficient conditions are derived to greatly enhance the probability of finding the tours with the cheapest costs reaching almost to unity.
