About the Lab

Professor Lee Jun-ho's research lab specializes in advanced materials science and biomedical engineering, with a focus on understanding fundamental interactions in perovskite semiconductors and developing innovative sensor technologies for human-like sensory perception. The lab investigates hydrogen bonding dynamics in hybrid halide perovskites to improve optoelectronic device stability, while also pioneering stretchable, multimodal sensor systems integrated with machine learning for real-time tactile and thermal signal discrimination. Additionally, the lab explores human factors in digital media, particularly the impact of social media and user behavior on tourism and content engagement, bridging engineering with social science applications.

Radiation Exposure to the Surgeon During Percutaneous Endoscopic Lumbar Discectomy
Yong Ahn, Chang‐Ho Kim, Jun Ho Lee, Sang-Ho Lee, Jin Sung Kim
SJR Q1Spine

Without radiation shielding, a surgeon performing 291 PELDs annually would be exposed to the maximum allowable radiation dose. Given the measurable lifetime radiation hazards to the surgeon, the use of adequate protective equipment is essential to reducing exposure during PELD.

The nature of hydrogen-bonding interaction in the prototypic hybrid halide perovskite, tetragonal CH3NH3PbI3

SJR Q1Scientific ReportsOA

In spite of the key role of hydrogen bonding in the structural stabilization of the prototypic hybrid halide perovskite, CH3NH3PbI3 (MAPbI3), little progress has been made in our in-depth understanding of the hydrogen-bonding interaction between the MA(+)-ion and the iodide ions in the PbI6-octahedron network. Herein, we show that there exist two distinct types of the hydrogen-bonding interaction, naming α- and β-modes, in the tetragonal MAPbI3 on the basis of symmetry argument and density-funct

Mimicking human skin sensation such as spontaneous multimodal perception and identification/discrimination of intermixed stimuli is severely hindered by the difficulty of efficient integration of complex cutaneous receptor-emulating circuitry and the lack of an appropriate protocol to discern the intermixed signals. Here, a highly stretchable cross-reactive sensor matrix is demonstrated, which can detect, classify, and discriminate various intermixed tactile and thermal stimuli using a machine-l

Clinical and Radiographic Changes After Percutaneous Endoscopic Cervical Discectomy: A Long-Term Follow-Up

Photomedicine and Laser SurgeryOA

OBJECTIVE: Results following anterior cervical discectomy (ACD) without fusion are not well reported because of skepticism that the disturbed cervical spine anatomy after ACD might compromise clinical outcome. The purpose of this study was to determine whether ACD without fusion prompts the degenerative process significantly, and whether it is necessary to preserve disc height and cervical alignment for the sake of better clinical outcome following cervical spine surgery. BACKGROUND DATA: Out of

C1-2 Transarticular Screw Fixation in High-riding Vertebral Artery: Suggestion of New Trajectory
Jun Ho Lee, Tae-Ahn Jahng, Chun Kee Chung
Journal of Spinal Disorders & Techniques

A significant drawback of atlantoaxial transarticular screw fixation is a potential risk of vertebral artery injury, especially with a high-riding type. The authors propose a relatively safe trajectory in cases of high-riding vertebral artery by using the 3-dimensional computerized tomography image reconstruction programs. Twelve consecutive patients with a pathologic condition in atlantoaxial complex were prospectively analyzed. Five other patients, whose high-riding vertebral arteries were inc

Combined anomaly of intramedullary arteriovenous malformation and lipomyelomeningocele.
Jun Ho Lee, Chun Kee Chung, Gheeyoung Choe, Je G., Kee Hyun Chang, Hyun Jib Kim
PubMedOA

We report a rare situation in which a lipomyelomeningocele and an intramedullary arteriovenous malformation (AVM) occurred together at the T11-L1 level in a 44-year-old man. MR images showed a hypervascular lesion intradurally and a fatty component extradurally. Spinal angiography revealed this lesion to be an intramedullary AVM with multiple feeding arteries from the right T12 and left T10 intercostal artery and the left L1 lumbar artery, drained by tortuous, dilated, perimedullary veins.
