About the Lab
Professor Min-ji Shin's research lab specializes in tourism and cultural experiences, with a particular focus on generational differences in tourism behavior and memory. The lab explores how younger generations, especially Generation Z, perceive and remember nighttime cultural tourism experiences, emphasizing emotional, social, and psychological dimensions such as uniqueness, social media sharing, and sensory perceptions. Current research integrates phenomenological methods to uncover the lived experiences of tourists in heritage sites like Gyeongbokgung Palace during night-time openings.

1이 연구는 Z세대 야간문화관광객이 기억하는 관광경험의 본질을 탐구했다. 최근 1년 이내 경복궁 야간개장을 경험한 Z세대 10명과의 심층인터뷰를 바탕으로 Colaizzi의 현상학적 질적 연구를 수행하였다. 자료 분석 결과, ‘낮과 다른 야간경험’, ‘사진을 매개로한 과시적 욕구’, ‘희소한 경험’, ‘어둠에 따른 불안함과 불편함’의 4가지 요인이 도출됐다. 연구 참여자들은 낮과 다른 고요하고 차분한 밤의 경복궁을 긍정적으로 기억했다. 그러나 밤의 경복궁은 넘어질 수 있다는 불안이나 안내판을 제대로 읽을 수 없다는 불편함이 내재되어 있었다. 즉, 연구 참여자에게 경복궁 야간개장은 긍정과 부정이 혼재된 양가적 경험으로 남아있다고 할 수 있다. 또한, 높은 경쟁률을 뚫고 예매에 성공한 사람만 방문이 가능한 야간개장의 한정성은 연구 참여자가 방문자체를 특별하게 기억하는 계기가 됐으며, 이는 희소성 메시지와 관련이 있다. 마지막으로, 사진을 통한 과시적 욕구는 연구 참여자에게 주요한 관광동기로
