Professor Min Kim's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research, with a primary emphasis on understanding the pathophysiology of ocular diseases such as uveitis and retinal disorders through advanced imaging techniques like enhanced-depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT). The lab investigates the role of choroidal thickness and ocular perfusion in disease activity and progression, particularly in conditions like Behcet’s uveitis. Additionally, the lab explores metabolic biomarkers—especially lipid species such as ceramides and phosphatidylcholines—in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, using mass spectrometry to identify plasma-based signatures linked to disease status and neurodegeneration. The integration of clinical imaging, molecular biomarkers, and systemic disease mechanisms defines the lab’s interdisciplinary approach.
