About the Lab
Professor Min Soo Kim's research lab specializes in computational mechanics and fluid dynamics, with a focus on advanced numerical methods for simulating complex free-surface flows using the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method. The lab also engages in data-driven drug discovery through deep generative models, particularly conditional variational autoencoders (CVAE), to design novel molecular structures with desired pharmacological properties. In organizational psychology, the lab investigates interpersonal dynamics in the workplace, including psychological contracts, emotional labor, and job crafting, using mixed-methods and experience sampling approaches to capture real-time employee experiences. These interdisciplinary efforts reflect a strong commitment to solving practical challenges in engineering, healthcare, and organizational behavior through innovative modeling and empirical research.

15Abstract Finite element analysis of fluid flow with moving free surface has been performed in 2‐D and 3‐D. The new VOF‐based numerical algorithm that has been proposed by the present authors (Int. J. Numer. Meth. Fluids, submitted) was applied to several 2‐D and 3‐D free surface flow problems. The proposed free surface tracking scheme is based on two numerical tools; the orientation vector to represent the free surface orientation in each cell and the baby‐cell to determine the fluid volume flux
Deep learning-based molecular generative models have successfully identified drug candidates with desired properties against biological targets of interest. However, syntactically invalid molecules generated from a deep learning-generated model hinder the model from being applied to drug discovery. Herein, we propose a conditional variational autoencoder (CVAE) as a generative model to propose drug candidates with the desired property outside a data set range. We train the CVAE using molecular f
Not all members are engaged in job crafting behavior in the same context, yet little research has addressed boundary conditions of daily job crafting. This study addresses these important issues and how the effects of daily job crafting vary depending on the work situation. We consider job autonomy and leader support as between-person level moderators and reveal how it affects the impact of daily job crafting on daily job satisfaction. Through the experience of the sampling method, we collected
A numerical simulation of brushless DC motor is performed to elucidate thermo-flow characteristics in winding and bearing with heat generation. Rotation of rotor and blades drives influx of ambient air into the rotor inlet. Recirculation zone exists in the tiny interfaces between windings. The flow separation causes poor cooling performance in bearing part and therefore the redesign of the bearing groove is required. The design parameters such as the inlet location, geometry and bearing groove t
The present study assessed the effect of gender similarity as a potential moderator of the relationships between person–group (P–G) value fit and work attitudes. Specifically, we predicted that the effect of P–G value fit (in terms of social integration values) on individual attitudes would be stronger for individuals who had a similar gender than those of a different gender. Based on data obtained from 197 employees in South Korea, we found that when the focal individual had high gender similar
The gut microbiome shapes host health through a complex network driven by both host‒microbe and microbe‒microbe interactions. Disruption of these interactions, often referred to as dysbiosis, is associated with a range of infectious and chronic diseases. Owing to the success of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) for the treatment of recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection, FMT has been explored as a therapeutic option for a range of microbiota-associated conditions, including inflammato
