About the Lab

Professor Minjae Choi's research lab specializes in biomedical diagnostics, wearable sensing technologies, and advanced 3D imaging systems. The lab focuses on developing innovative solutions for disease biomarker detection, such as inflammatory responses in bipolar disorder, while advancing wearable strain sensors with improved reliability through novel contact area-based sensing mechanisms. Additionally, the lab pioneers next-generation 3D reconstruction techniques using cylindrical projector systems to overcome limitations in traditional fringe projection methods, enabling high-accuracy, wide-area 3D sensing for applications in the metaverse and telemedicine.

SJR Q1Scientific ReportsOA

Accurate sensing of finger joint angles is a key objective in wearable motion sensing systems for rehabilitation applications and requires high sensing reliability and accuracy. However, conventional textile-based strain sensors often exhibit low reliability, characterized by baseline drift and the double-peak phenomenon during repetitive deformation. These limitations are mainly attributed to the length-variation-based sensing mechanism, in which repeated deformation induces changes in the sens

Cylindrical Mechanical Projector for Omnidirectional Fringe Projection Profilometry
MJ Choi, G Y Kim, Jae‐Sang Hyun
SJR Q1IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement

The demand for 360-degree 3D reconstruction has significantly increased in recent years across various domains such as the metaverse and 3D telecommunication. Accordingly, the importance of precise and wide-area 3D sensing technology has become emphasized. While the digital fringe projection method has been widely used due to its high accuracy and implementation flexibility, it suffers from fundamental limitations such as unidirectional projection and a restricted available light spectrum. Introduction Ensuring the reliability, standardization, and international comparability of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance data critically depends on the implementation of robust quality assurance frameworks. South Korea established the Korea Global Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System (Kor-GLASS), supported by a centralized quality control center (QCC). As Kor-GLASS transitioned from Phase II to Phase III, new bacterial species and antimicrobial agents were incorporated, und
