About the Lab
Professor Nayun Han's research lab focuses on translational and molecular oncology, with a strong emphasis on understanding the pathophysiology of liver diseases, particularly portal vein thrombosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, in the context of cirrhosis. The lab investigates novel therapeutic strategies, including individualized management algorithms involving anticoagulation, TIPS, and watchful waiting, as well as the role of proteases and signaling pathways such as PARs and DACH1-CXCL5 in tumor progression. Additionally, the lab explores diagnostic imaging biomarkers, such as those from gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI, to differentiate benign from malignant conditions in cancer patients. A significant component of the research also involves the pharmacological characterization of bioactive natural compounds, particularly benzophenanthridine alkaloids, for their potential therapeutic applications.
