About the Lab
Professor Sangman Jin's research lab specializes in diabetes mellitus, with a strong focus on glycemic variability, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)-based metrics, and the long-term complications of diabetes. The lab investigates the clinical implications of glucose fluctuations, particularly in relation to cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy and microvascular disease, while also evaluating the safety and efficacy of antidiabetic agents such as pioglitazone and lobeglitazone. A key research direction involves developing machine learning approaches for hypoglycemia prediction, especially postprandial hypoglycemia, to improve artificial pancreas systems and personalized diabetes management.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to establish the association between continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)-defined glycaemic variability (GV) and cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (CAN) in type 1 diabetes independent of mean glucose and to examine the relative contribution of each internationally standardized CGM parameter to this association.
