About the Lab
Professor Sangwook Son's research lab focuses on dermatological mechanisms underlying inflammatory skin diseases and the development of novel therapeutic strategies. Key research directions include the role of cytokines such as IL-33 and TSLP in atopic dermatitis, the impact of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) in psoriasis, and the pathogenesis of mask-induced dermatoses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The lab also investigates nanomaterial interactions with the skin, particularly the influence of nanoparticle surface charge on transdermal penetration, highlighting translational applications in drug delivery and dermatotoxicology.
