About the Lab
Professor Se Yoon Park's research lab focuses on infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and clinical outcomes in hospitalized patients, with a strong emphasis on optimizing antibiotic use and improving patient management in critical care settings. The lab conducts multidisciplinary studies on antimicrobial stewardship, pathogen-specific risk factors (e.g., *Acinetobacter baumannii* bacteremia), and viral persistence (e.g., SARS-CoV-2 RNA shedding), contributing to evidence-based clinical decision-making. 15Risk factors such as resistance to carbapenems, mechanical ventilation, and presence of malignancy were found to be associated with high mortality rates in the patients with A. baumannii bacteremia.
This was the first nationwide qualitative antibiotic prescription adequacy evaluation in Korea. A significant proportion of antibiotic prescriptions were inappropriate. Therefore, interventions for high-frequency infections and prescription antibiotics are needed.
OBJECTIVES: We calculated the human resources required for an antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP) in Korean hospitals. DESIGN: Multicenter retrospective study. The use of a clinical scoring system based on lower respiratory infection, chronic respiratory disease, bacterial co-infection and fever appears to be useful for outcome prediction and risk stratification in order to select patients who may need early antiviral therapy.
Abstract The aim of this study was to determine factors influencing the hand hygiene compliance of a physician. We found a strong correlation between a leader’s (staff member’s or fellow’s) and a follower’s (resident’s) hand hygiene compliance. Followers’ appropriate hand hygiene compliance was significantly associated with the compliance of the leader (P = .01).
