About the Lab
Professor Seo-Ra Kim's research lab focuses on neuroprotective mechanisms in neurological disorders, particularly investigating natural compounds like ginsenosides in mitigating glutamate-induced neurodegeneration. The lab also explores clinical interventions in oncology, including desensitization protocols for chemotherapy-induced toxicity and surgical outcomes in cervical cancer. Additionally, the lab examines physiological responses to stressors such as hypovolemia and hyperoxia, with a focus on cardiovascular and autonomic regulation. A recurring theme is improving patient safety and treatment tolerance through mechanistic and translational research.

Many patients who experience oxaliplatin-induced IHSRs are required to stop first-line oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy or to continue without desensitization, with the associated risks. Our new desensitization protocol is practical and easy to use in clinical practice.
