Professor Seung-ho Shin's research lab specializes in auditory neuroscience and otology, focusing on the physiological and psychological aspects of tinnitus, hyperacusis, and sudden sensorineural hearing loss. The lab investigates objective biomarkers such as loudness discomfort levels, otoacoustic emissions, auditory brainstem responses, and qEEG to improve diagnosis and treatment outcomes. Despite a very strong correlation between the two thresholds, H3k and H24k showed clinically large LOAs. Therefore, it would be improper to substitute H24k for H3k in an individual requesting a hearing disability rating.
