Professor Seung-Chul Kim's research lab specializes in plant evolutionary biology, with a focus on phylogenetics, molecular systematics, and the mechanisms of adaptive radiation and speciation in island floras. Sequences from the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) of nuclear ribosomal DNA were used to assess relationships among genera of subtribe Sonchinae (Lactuceae).
