About the Lab
Professor Seungjeong Park's research lab specializes in cardiovascular disease mechanisms, with a focus on structural and electrical heart disorders, including pacing-induced cardiomyopathy, arrhythmic risk prediction in congenital and acquired cardiomyopathies, and interventional strategies for left main coronary artery disease. The lab investigates biomarkers such as fragmented QRS complexes and explores the impact of medical and interventional therapies on long-term cardiac outcomes. Using clinical registries and preclinical models, the lab aims to improve risk stratification and optimize revascularization strategies in complex coronary and valvular diseases.

15AIMS: We investigated the clinical features, predictors, and long-term prognosis of pacing-induced cardiomyopathy (PiCM). METHODS AND RESULTS: From a retrospective analysis of 1418 consecutive pacemaker patients, 618 were found to have a preserved baseline left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), follow-up echocardiographic data, and no history of heart failure (HF). PiCM was defined as a reduction in LVEF (< 50%) along with either (i) a ≥ 10% decrease in LVEF, or (ii) new-onset regional wall

BACKGROUND: Fragmented QRS complex (fQRS) on 12-lead ECG, a marker of myocardial scar, is a predictor of arrhythmic events in patients with ischemic and nonischemic cardiomyopathy. We investigated whether the presence of fQRS is associated with the severity of the anomaly and with increased arrhythmic events in adult patients with Ebstein anomaly (EA). METHODS AND RESULTS: In 51 consecutive adult patients with EA (median age, 37 years; 18 males), the severity index of EA calculated from echocard
BACKGROUND: Changes over time in revascularization strategies and outcomes among patients with unprotected left main coronary artery stenosis remain largely unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 2618 consecutive patients with unprotected left main coronary artery stenosis who underwent revascularization were identified from the ASAN Medical Center-Left MAIN Revascularization registry and classified by time periods: bare metal stent (wave 1, 1995-1998), early drug-eluting stents (wave 2, 2003-
