About the Lab
Professor Seungmin Lee's research lab focuses on the intersection of nutrition, gut microbiota, and chronic disease prevention, with a particular emphasis on cardiovascular health and aging-related metabolic disorders. The lab investigates how dietary components—such as soy, fiber, and fermented plant foods—influence lipid metabolism, gut barrier integrity, and systemic inflammation through modulation of gut microbiota and host gene expression. Additional research explores targeted molecular therapies, including peptide-based diagnostics and therapeutics for urological cancers, and the role of micronutrients in age-related sensory and metabolic changes. The lab integrates molecular biology, animal models, and clinical nutrition assessments to translate findings into practical dietary and therapeutic strategies.

Bladder cancer is one of the most common tumors of the genitourinary tract. Here, we use phage display to identify a peptide that targets bladder tumor cells.
