About the Lab

Professor Seungmook Lee's research lab specializes in genomic and molecular mechanisms underlying cancer development and environmental health impacts. The lab focuses on identifying novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets in pediatric and adult cancers, particularly gliomas and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), using next-generation sequencing and advanced bioinformatics. It also investigates the molecular basis of disease progression, including malignant transformation in IDH1-mutated gliomas and the role of oncometabolites. Additionally, the lab develops innovative computational and mass spectrometry-based methods for protein biomarker discovery and gene expression analysis.

PM2.5 samples were collected from December 2005 through November 2007 in two cities including Chuncheon and Seoul in order to investigate the characteristics of carbonaceous aerosol. The average PM2.5 concentration in Seoul (43.2 μg/m3) was approximately 1.2 times higher than that measured in Chuncheon (36.1 μg/m3), however there was no statistical difference on PM2.5 concentration between those two cities.
