About the Lab

Professor So Dam Lee's research lab focuses on gastrointestinal pathophysiology, particularly the role of the gastric microbiota and *Helicobacter pylori* in gastric carcinogenesis. The lab employs advanced models such as germ-free mice, 3D organoids, and patient-derived samples to investigate epithelial-microbial interactions, metaplastic changes, and inflammatory responses. Their work bridges clinical gastroenterology with experimental models to uncover molecular mechanisms underlying gastric diseases and cancer.

OBJECTIVE: may also contribute to gastric carcinogenesis, wild-type germ-free (GF) mouse models investigating the role of human gastric microbiota in the process are not yet available. We aimed to evaluate the histopathological features of GF mouse stomachs transplanted with gastric microbiota from patients with different gastric disease states and their relationships with the microbiota. DESIGN: Microbiota profiles in corpus and antrum tissues and gastric fluid from 12 patients with gastric dys

Helicobacter pylori infection causes histopathologic changes in gastric epithelial cells, resulting in conditions such as gastritis, gastric ulcers, and ultimately, gastric cancer. To date, various experimental models, including cell lines and animal studies, have been employed to investigate these pathological processes. However, each model presents its limitations. This study compared the re-cultured three-dimensional organoids from infected single cells, apical-out, and two-dimensional (2D) o

Yes-Associated Protein Drives Helicobacter pylori–Induced Metaplastic Changes in Gastric Epithelium

SJR Q1Cellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and HepatologyOA

BACKGROUND & AIMS: Helicobactor pylori infection triggers a spectrum of metaplastic changes in the gastric epithelium; however, the upstream regulatory mechanisms remain unclear. In human gastric epithelial models, H pylori cytotoxin-associated gene A-dependent signaling stabilized and activated yes-associated protein, thereby promoting metaplastic reprogramming of the gastric epithelium. METHODS: Human gastric tissue specimens were obtained from patients at Severance Hospital, Yonsei University

This study tried to empirically verify the relationship between adolescents' experience in human rights education and human rights abuse experiences such as hate discrimination. Human rights education among teenagers can have a positive effect not only on understanding the concept of human rights or improving human rights sensitivity, but also on recognizing and respecting differences from others through human rights education. While research on human rights education is centered on educational
