About the Lab

Professor So-Min Lim's research lab specializes in translational biomedical research with a focus on cancer gene therapy, molecular imaging, and metabolic biomarkers in oncology. The lab develops targeted therapeutic strategies using viral vectors for tumor-specific delivery of suicide genes or reporter genes, particularly in colorectal cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma. It also investigates the clinical relevance of vitamin D metabolism in breast cancer patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy, aiming to link metabolic status with treatment outcomes. Additionally, the lab explores imaging and therapeutic applications in iron-overload related cardiac complications in thalassemia patients.

Comparison between direct and indirect labeling methods for monitoring cell trafficking

We identify screening strategies for cervical cancer that provide greater aggregate health benefit than existing options, offer excellent cost-effectiveness, and have the biggest positive impact in worst-off groups. The typology proposed here may also be useful in research and policy decisions when trade-offs between fairness and cost-effectiveness are unavoidable.
