About the Lab

Professor Sojeong Shin's research lab specializes in the development of novel therapeutic agents and diagnostic platforms for neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. The lab focuses on targeting the Nrf2 signaling pathway to combat oxidative stress, designing small molecule activators with improved druglike properties, and advancing point-of-care diagnostics using paper-based nucleic acid amplification technologies. Additionally, the lab explores bioelectrochemical systems, such as enzymatic biofuel cells, for sustainable energy applications. These interdisciplinary efforts integrate medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, and bioengineering to address unmet needs in neurodegenerative disease treatment and diagnostics.
