About the Lab

Professor Soo Jung Oh's research lab focuses on the intersection of information technology, innovation management, and business ecosystem development, with a strong emphasis on how digital technologies and strategic capabilities influence firm performance and innovation. The lab investigates the role of IT capabilities, e-procurement systems, and ICT in enhancing supply chain and organizational performance, particularly in manufacturing and SME contexts. It also explores entrepreneurial orientation, open innovation, and the strategic creation of business ecosystems—exemplified by case studies such as Universal Robots in collaborative robotics. The lab combines empirical analysis with case study methodologies to uncover mechanisms driving innovation and performance in technology-intensive industries.

HDAC6 Inhibitor Blocks Amyloid Beta-Induced Impairment of Mitochondrial Transport in Hippocampal Neurons
Chaeyoung Kim, Hee-Sun Choi, Eun Sun Jung, Wonik Lee, Soo Jung Oh, Noo Li Jeon, Inhee Mook‐Jung
SJR Q1PLoS ONEOA

Even though the disruption of axonal transport is an important pathophysiological factor in neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's disease (AD), the relationship between disruption of axonal transport and pathogenesis of AD is poorly understood. Considering that α-tubulin acetylation is an important factor in axonal transport and that Aβ impairs mitochondrial axonal transport, we manipulated the level of α-tubulin acetylation in hippocampal neurons with Aβ cultured in a microfluidic sy

Managerial capabilities of information technology and firm performance: role of e-procurement system type
Soo Jung Oh, Hongsuk Yang, Soo Wook Kim
SJR Q1International Journal of Production Research

AbstractFirms need to find a proper fit between their own information technology (IT) capabilities and IT systems in order to enhance performance. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to examine the moderating effect of certain e-procurement system types on the relationship between IT capabilities and firm performance. Moderated regression analysis is used to test for interaction effects of IT capabilities, including collaboration capability and dynamic capability, and e-procurement system types i

Emergence of a new sector via a business ecosystem: a case study of Universal Robots and the collaborative robotics sector
Soo Jung Oh
SJR Q2Technology Analysis and Strategic Management

This study presents how a small and medium-sized company has successfully created a new sector through constructing a business ecosystem. Drawing upon interviews and secondary data, this case study explains how Denmark’s Universal Robots (UR) launched the collaborative robotics sector by constructing a business ecosystem that included producers of peripherals, system integrators and distributors in the industrial robotics industry. In forging the path towards collaborative robotics, UR introduce

Supply Chain Capabilities and Information Technology Characteristics: Interaction Effects on Firm Performance
Soo Jung Oh, Young U. Ryu, Hongsuk Yang

Information and communication technology (ICT) has emerged as a significant basis for improving the supply chain. Reports are, however, often conflicting about its effects on firm performance. In order to better assess the contribution of ICT on firm performance from the supply chain management perspective, we propose a research model to investigate the interaction effects of ICT and supply chain capabilities on firm performance. We test the research model with regression analysis on field surve

Linking supply chains to ecosystems in the era of supply chain management 4.0
Soo Jung Oh, Byung Il Park
SJR Q3Journal of General Management

Industry 4.0 is revolutionizing supply chain management, prompting a significant shift toward Supply Chain Management 4.0 (SCM 4.0). This transformation facilitates traditional supply chains evolving into platform-based ecosystems, thereby fundamentally redefining the processes of value creation, delivery, and capture. This study recognizes the divergence in empirical research between supply chains and ecosystems and aims to integrate these research streams by focusing on technological platforms

Analysis of the SCQM Efficiency of a Parent Company and Its Partner Companies Using DEA
Soo Jung Oh, Hyun Jung Kim, Soo Wook Kim
Korean Management Science ReviewOA

With the recent introduction of supply chain management (SCM), quality management has extended from within companies to between companies. As a result, supply chain quality management (SCQM) has received increased attention. However, existing SCQM studies only focus on what impact quality control in supply chains have on company performance while virtually no studies examine quality control efficiencies. This paper, therefore, evaluated the SCQM efficiency of a parent company and its partner com

SJR Q1International Business ReviewOA

The contributions of market-seeking and strategic resource-seeking motives to firms’ internationalization have been widely recognized. However, previous studies have paid scant attention to how firms’ strategic behavior regarding capacity-based searches can differ in certain contexts. Thus, little is known about the effect of the relationship between ownership and capacity-based searches on venture firms’ internationalization. Drawing on the behavioral theory of the firm, we identify the relatio
