About the Lab
Professor Suk Kyu Eom's research lab specializes in diagnostic radiology and medical imaging, focusing on the advanced characterization of rare and aggressive solid tumors through multimodal imaging techniques. The lab investigates the diagnostic performance of ultrasound (e.g., SMI), MRI, CT, and digital tomosynthesis in improving the detection, staging, and prognosis of cancers such as breast cancer, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, pancreatic neoplasms, and extrarenal rhabdoid tumors. A central theme is the development of preoperative risk prediction models using radiological and clinical features to guide personalized treatment strategies.

Bronchial carcinosarcoma is a very rare malignant tumor that is composed of carcinomatous and sarcomatous elements. 목적: 일상적인 슬관절 자기공명영상에 포함된 축상영상의 반월판 열상 진단에 대한 정확도를 알아보고자 한다. 대상과 방법 : 임상적으로 슬관절의 반월판 열상을 의심하여 관절경 시술을 시행한 환자 중 수술 전 슬관절 자기공명영상 촬영을 시행한 환자 45명을 대상으로 하였다. 축상영상은 지방억제 양성자밀도강조영상을 사용해 얻었으며 절편두께와 간격은 모두 4 mm이었다. 총 45명 환자의 내측, 외측 반월판 90개의 자기공명영상을 2명의 영상의학과 의사가 후향적으로 분석하였으며 반월판 열상의 진단은 각 슬관절 자기공명영상의 축상영상만으로 진단을 하였다. 관절경에서의 반월판 열상 소견을 기준으로 하여 축상영상에서 판독한 반월판 열상의 존재 여부와 열상의 위치가 일치한 경우에 대한 민감도, 특이도, 양성 예측도, 음성 예측도, 정확도를 계산하였다. 결과: 총 45명의 환자에서 총 90개의 반월판을 관절경 시술로 확인하였다. 동시에 양측 반월판 열상을 앓고 있었던 2명을 포함하여 반월판 열상 환
Malignant extrarenal rhabdoid tumor (MERT) is a very aggressive tumor that is extremely rare in adults. Herein, we introduce three cases of MERT in adults that originated in the ileum, adrenal gland, and uterine endometrium. The MERTs in the ileum and adrenal gland showed non-aggressive features and a good prognosis, while the MERT in the uterine presented with aggressive features and distant metastasis.

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a rare neoplasm, which is usually presented as a pleural based mass, but can also occur in unusual locations based on its mesenchymal origin. The subintimal arterial flossing with antegrade-retrograde intervention (SAFARI) technique is reportedly effective in severe peripheral vascular disease that cannot be treated with standard endovascular techniques including subintimal angioplasty. In this report, we used a target balloon with the Outback catheter to recanalize a thrombosed bypass graft that could not be treated successfully with SAFARI.
