About the Lab
Professor Suk-Mo Kim's research lab focuses on thyroid cancer biology, with a particular emphasis on molecular mechanisms underlying disease progression, treatment resistance, and therapeutic innovation. The lab investigates epigenetic regulation, such as histone deacetylation and DNA methylation, in thyroid carcinogenesis, especially in aggressive subtypes like anaplastic thyroid cancer. It also explores metabolic reprogramming—particularly glutamine metabolism—and stress response pathways (e.g., ER stress and ATF4-mediated one-carbon metabolism) as therapeutic targets. Additionally, the lab evaluates clinical outcomes and safety of targeted therapies in advanced or refractory thyroid cancers, aiming to improve patient management and develop novel treatment strategies.
