About the Lab
Professor Sung-Joon Park's research lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying metabolic regulation, immune tolerance, and aging, with a particular emphasis on cAMP signaling, Sirt1, and transcriptional regulators like Capicua (CIC). The lab investigates how small molecules such as resveratrol and SRT1720 modulate cellular metabolism and immunity through non-canonical pathways involving phosphodiesterase inhibition and AMPK activation. A central theme is the interplay between metabolic sensors (e.g., Sirt1, AMPK) and immune cell differentiation, especially in T follicular helper cells and tissue-resident memory T cells. The lab also explores translational applications in aging, autoimmunity, and critical care, including optimal cardiopulmonary resuscitation duration and smart-home technologies for aging-in-place.
