About the Lab

Professor Sung Mok Kim's research lab specializes in medical imaging technologies and advanced mechatronic systems. The lab focuses on optimizing low-dose and radiation-efficient CT imaging techniques for cardiovascular disease detection, particularly coronary artery calcium scoring and myocardial ischemia assessment using dual-energy CT. In parallel, the lab develops innovative parallel kinematic mechanisms with specialized motion characteristics—such as Schönflies motion and 4-DOF translational-rotational mobility—for applications in robotics, haptics, and surgical assistance.
