About the Lab

Professor Sung Woo Jo's research lab specializes in structural engineering with a focus on offshore and marine structures, particularly helideck systems and deck structures subjected to extreme loads. The lab investigates the design, optimization, and safety evaluation of aluminum-based helidecks and grated-steel decks under accidental loading conditions such as dropped objects. Research also includes nonlinear impact analysis using advanced finite element methods and the development of integrated academic programs combining engineering and business education.
