About the Lab
Professor Woo-Sung Jung's research lab specializes in advanced materials science and engineering, with a focus on nanostructured surfaces for optical and hydrophobic applications, as well as the development of novel microfluidic systems using electrohydrodynamic principles. The lab also investigates complex systems in socio-technical domains, including technology transfer mechanisms in universities, the impact of institutional policies on innovation, and human mobility patterns in urban transportation networks. Additionally, the lab conducts empirical and theoretical studies on financial market dynamics, particularly the statistical properties of return intervals in emerging equity markets like Korea’s.

15Nanostructured superhydrophobic silicon surfaces with tunable reflectance are fabricated via a simple maskless deep reactive-ion etching process. By controlling the scale of the high-aspect-ratio nanostructures on a wafer-scale surface, surface reflectance is maximized or minimized over the UV-vis-IR range while maintaining superhydrophobic properties.
본 연구에서는 대학의 기술이전 및 성과 확산에 미치는 영향력에 대해 대학 차원의 역량 강화와 정부차원의 인프라 마련 두 가지 측면에서 확인하였다. 먼저 대학과 정부의 연구개발지원이 기술이전 및 확산에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과 연구개발 인센티브와 정부의 이공계부문 재정지원이 기술이전성과에 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대학과 기업의 중개기관적 역할을 수행하는 산학협력단의 규모와 전문성 그리고 기술이전전담조직(Technology Licensing Office: TLO)의 별도 설립을 통한 전문성과 대학내부의 역량강화가 기술이전 수입 증대에 중요한 영향요인으로 확인되었다. 그리고 재정지원사업 참여대학들은 기술이전성과에 이공계 전임교원의 확보와 해외특허비용지원이 중요한 것으로 나타났고, 기술이전건수의 경우는 수도권 대학에서 영향력을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 기술이전수입 증대에 교원평가항목에서 산학협력실적반영이 긍정적 영향력을 보여준다. 셋째, 재정지원사업 비수혜대학의 경우
We report a novel method to form a circular pattern of monodisperse microdroplets using an electrohydrodynamic repulsion (EDR) mechanism. EDR is a phenomenon of electrostatical bounced microdroplets from an accumulated droplet on a bottom substrate. 본 연구에서는 기업가적 대학으로의 역할 확대의 이론적 검토와 이러한 현상을 산업경제 차원에서 논의하였고, 그에 따라 대표적인 국내 연구중심대학 사례를 검토하였다. 대학 역할 확대의 관점은 대학 내 기업연계조직의 확대와 전통적인 대학 기능의 기업가적 대학으로의 변화로 정의하였다. 이러한 관점에 기인하여 국내 연구중심대학인 POSTECH의 사례를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 기업연계조직은 기술이전조직, 창업지원조직 등 선진국 수준에서 조직이 갖추어진 상황이다. 반면, 대부분의 기업연계 조직이 최근 5년 내 설립되었으며 최근 일부 성과가 창출하고 있다. 둘째, 전통적인 대학 기능의 기업가적 대학으로의 변화는 일부 학과와 프로그램을 중심으로 진행되고 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 기업가적 대학의 두 가지 요소 중 산업경제에 미치는 영향력은 단기적으로 대학 내 기업연계 조직이 지역 산업경제 선순환에 긍정적 영향을 주었고, 전통적인 대학 기능변화는 장기적인 차원에서 경제의 순기능(기업가적 인재양성

We analyze the return intervals in Korean stock prices. While scaling and memory effects prevail in mature markets, such as the US and Japanese markets, the Korean market does not exhibit the scaling effect, but rather the memory effect. To detect a signal change in nano scale, Schottky barrier - silicon nanowire field effect transistor (SB-SiNWFET) for detecting a bio-molecule was fabricated by combining E-beam lithography and conventional MEMS technique. Detection of few bio-molecules is enabled by realizing the gold nanodots on silicon nanowire (SiNW). By performing pH test and carbohydrate binding measurement, we conclude that our sensor can detect very small quantity of biomolecules.

We investigate the relative market efficiency in 11 foreign exchange markets by using the Lempel- Ziv (LZ) complexity algorithm and several entropy values such as the Shannon entropy, the approximate entropy, and the sample entropy.
