About the Lab
Professor Yohan Lee's research lab focuses on biomedical engineering and clinical applications, particularly in neurosurgical reconstruction and glioblastoma research. The lab investigates gene expression signatures in glioblastoma to understand survival disparities, especially in relation to age and ProNeural subtypes, while also exploring innovative microsurgical techniques for soft tissue reconstruction in the foot. Additionally, the lab contributes to power electronics, developing advanced PWM strategies for high-voltage, multi-level inverters used in industrial motor drives.

15BACKGROUND: Glioblastomas are the most common primary brain tumour in adults. While the prognosis for patients is poor, gene expression profiling has detected signatures that can sub-classify GBMs relative to histopathology and clinical variables. One category of GBM defined by a gene expression signature is termed ProNeural (PN), and has substantially longer patient survival relative to other gene expression-based subtypes of GBMs. Age of onset is a major predictor of the length of patient surv
This paper presents a new PWM method for the three-level GTO inverters based on the space voltage vectors. With the proposed PWM method, we can minimize the harmonic components of the output voltage by avoiding the minimum pulse width limitation problem of the GTO thyristors and keeping the voltage balancing of the DC-link capacitors. The principle of the proposed PWM method and the voltage vector output sequences are described in detail. Computer simulation and experimental results verify that
This paper proposes a novel SVPWM (space vector pulse width modulation) strategy for a multi-level voltage source inverter. This strategy is easily implemented as SPWM (sinusoidal pulse width modulation) and has the same DC-link voltage utilization as the general SVPWM scheme. The method to keep the voltage balance of the DC-link is also proposed by the analysis of DC-link voltage fluctuations. The usefulness of the proposed SVPWM is verified through simulation studies.
While natural and ecological integration in the Mekong River basinwere well-sustained for thousands of years, for now being segmented by6 national borders, the cost and benefit of the Mekong River developmentwas divided with asymmetry structure. There have been seriouscontroversies and conflicts among Mekong River riparian states withregard to various kind of the Mekong development, especially on theconstruction of hydropower dam in the Mekong mainstream. Recentlythe issues were even more compli
In recent Laos has attempted to change the fundamentally through the openness and economic reform policy. However, in spite of active and aggressive effort of government, Lao still couldn't get the position out of the Least Developed Countries due to few population and rare natural resource. In these poor economic situation, Official Development Assistance (ODA) which flows into Laos has play an important role and has great influence in Lao country. This article is to review the current situati
BACKGROUND: It is difficult for surgeons to reconstruct soft tissue defects of the great toe. This report aims to evaluate the utility and efficacy of innervated distally based first dorsal metatarsal artery (FDMA) flap with a wide pedicle for reconstruction of soft tissue defects of the great toe. METHODS: ). The average follow-up period was 29.4 months (range, 18 to 38 months). RESULTS: All patients survived without any complications. The average two-point discrimination test value was 8.0 ± 0
INTRODUCTION: Patients presenting with tears of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) can have ulnar positive variance, for which the clinical relevance to concomitant ulnar impaction syndrome (UIS) may be unclear. We hypothesized that maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), a semiquantitative single-photon-emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) value, would distinguish between the traumatic TFCC tear and degenerative TFCC tear associated with the UIS. This study
We evaluated the effect of 13.56 MHz modulated electro-hyperthermia (mEHT) boost in neoadjuvant treatment for cT3-4- or cN-positive rectal cancer. Sixty patients who completed the mEHT feasibility trial (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02546596) were analyzed. Whole pelvis radiotherapy of 40 Gy, mEHT boost twice a week during radiotherapy, and surgical resection 6–8 weeks following radiotherapy were performed. The median age was 59. The median follow-up period was 58 (6–85) months. Total/near
Under climate change and human's dominant influence, wildfires have been increasing in frequency and scale, highlighting the demand of effective wildfire prediction and response. While prior research often maps high-risk areas, a few studies predict wildfire occurrences at specific dates and locations. This study aims to develop a year-round daily wildfire prediction model using machine learning, targeting Gangwon State in the Republic of Korea, and examine major influencing factors. We integrat
BACKGROUND: Although preventing triceps fragment displacement is essential for treating an olecranon fracture, we frequently encounter situations in which only a few screws can be fixed to the triceps fragment. The aim of this study was to compare the stability of double-plate fixation and posterior plate fixation for olecranon fractures when the triceps fragment was small and only 2 screws could be inserted. METHODS: A composite ulna model was used to simulate olecranon fracture. Four groups we
Since mid of 1990's Vietnamese food had been advanced in Korea, the franchises and branches of the Vietnam food restaurant remarkably has grown in numbers. It was estimated that the number of Vietnamese food franchise was not less than 30's and the market size of food industry would be around 200 million dollars in Korea. While the interests and study on the globalization of Korean food had been recently increasing, the Southeast Asian food, especially Vietnamese food which had significantly tak
