About the Lab

Professor Yong Wook Park's research lab focuses on musculoskeletal and autoimmune diseases, particularly rheumatoid arthritis, with an emphasis on immune cell biology and joint inflammation. The lab investigates the role of regulatory T cells, especially CD8+ T cells expressing NK-like receptors such as CX(3)CR1, in modulating immune responses within the synovial microenvironment. It also explores novel surgical interventions for musculoskeletal disorders, such as innovative ligament reconstruction techniques for chronic ankle instability. Additionally, the lab contributes to medical imaging research, including ultrasound and radiologic characterization of soft tissue tumors.

Basal cell adenoma is a rare benign salivary gland epithelial tumor, usually involving the parotid gland. H3N2 influenza virus cultured in eggs could lead mutations in amino acid sequence of hemagglutinin, distinct from the corresponding virus cultured in cells for which no antigenic mutation was observed. These findings suggest that cell culture is a more stable and effective way of production with lower risk of antigenic mutations for the manufacture of influenza vaccines.
