About the Lab

Professor Young Sik Lee's research lab focuses on molecular and systems biology, with a central emphasis on non-coding RNA regulation, host-microbe interactions, and neurobehavioral disorders. The lab investigates the roles of small non-coding RNAs—particularly endo-siRNAs and miRNAs—in gene regulation, stress response, and metabolic homeostasis, using Drosophila as a key model system. Additionally, the lab explores the neurobiological mechanisms underlying behavioral phenotypes such as internet gaming disorder and the psychopathological aspects of 'Sudden Withdrawal Yelling' (SWY), integrating behavioral neuroscience with translational approaches. The work bridges fundamental mechanisms in RNA biology with clinical and physiological implications in mental health and metabolic disease.
