About the Lab
Professor Young-Chul Jung's research lab focuses on the neurobiological and psychological mechanisms underlying behavioral and substance use disorders, with a particular emphasis on eating disorders, Internet gaming disorder, and alcohol dependence. The lab investigates how dysfunctions in cognitive control, emotional regulation, and autonomic nervous system responses contribute to the development and maintenance of these conditions, using neuroimaging, behavioral assessments, and psychophysiological measures. A central theme is the role of the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC) and related brain networks in self-referential processing, impulsivity, and salience detection. The lab also explores translational applications, including pharmacological interventions and biomarkers for relapse prevention.
