About the role

We are looking for checkers to confirm that translated manuscripts carry the meaning of the original accurately. The work is to compare academic translations between Korean, Japanese or Chinese and English with the source, and find mistranslations, omissions and inconsistent terms. Please choose your language pair when you apply.

What you will do

  • Compare source and translation sentence by sentence to find mistranslations and omissions
  • Check that field terms and proper nouns are rendered correctly
  • Note what to fix, and why, in a way translators can act on
  • Collect recurring problems to improve glossaries and guidelines

Who we are looking for

  • Able to read academic text in both languages of your chosen pair
  • Translation or checking experience, or a master's degree or higher in a related field
  • An eye for small differences between source and translation
  • Strict confidentiality about manuscripts

Why you will enjoy this work

  • Put your command of two languages to work in academic publishing
  • Read research from many fields in both the original and translation
  • Work remotely, one manuscript at a time
