About the role
Many researchers want to know what reviewers will say before they submit. We are looking for people who can read a Humanities & Social Sciences manuscript in full as a journal referee would and write a review report on the strengths and weaknesses of its contribution, methods, results and writing. The job is not to edit the manuscript but to give authors the judgment they need to revise it themselves.
What you will do
- Assess the research question, contribution, methods and interpretation of results of Humanities & Social Sciences manuscripts against review criteria
- List what needs to change in order of importance and suggest how to address it (you do not edit the text yourself)
- Comment on fit with the target journal's scope and readership
- Deliver review reports in the agreed format and within the deadline
Who we are looking for
- A PhD in a field related to Humanities & Social Sciences
- Experience as a journal peer reviewer
- Recent journal publications
- Keeping manuscripts and the fact of review confidential
Why you will enjoy this work
- Turn your refereeing experience into advice that directly helps researchers
- Read manuscripts from many research groups and follow recent work in your field
- Work remotely, one manuscript at a time
