研究室紹介
Professor Bora Geum's research lab focuses on gastrointestinal endotherapy and interventional techniques, with a strong emphasis on improving the safety and efficacy of endoscopic treatments for gastrointestinal diseases. The lab investigates novel ablation technologies such as irreversible electroporation (IRE) in the upper GI tract, evaluates the safety of bowel preparation agents in patients with renal impairment, and explores molecular mechanisms underlying intestinal inflammation, particularly involving sirtuin 7 (SIRT7). Their work bridges clinical gastroenterology with translational research, aiming to develop innovative, targeted therapies for inflammatory and malignant conditions of the digestive system.

15Terlipressin-induced hyponatremia occurred frequently, especially in young patients with good liver function and higher Na level. Caution is required when administering terlipressin to patients with low body mass index.

The safety of polyethylene glycol plus ascorbic acid has not been fully investigated in patients with renal insufficiency. High-dose ascorbic acid could induce hyperoxaluria, thereby causing tubule-interstitial nephritis and renal failure. This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of polyethylene glycol plus ascorbic acid in patients with chronic kidney disease. We retrospectively reviewed prospectively collected data on colonoscopy in patients with impaired renal function. Patients wer

Irreversible electroporation (IRE) is a local non-thermal ablative technique currently used to treat solid tumors. Here, we investigated the clinical potency and safety of IRE with an endoscope in the upper gastrointestinal tract. Pigs were electroporated with recently designed endoscopic IRE catheters in the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. Two successive strategies were introduced to optimize the electrical energy for the digestive tract. First, each organ was electroporated and the energy up
Accumulating evidence has shown that sirtuin 7 (SIRT7), a mediator of various cellular activities, plays an important role in the pathogenesis of various immune-mediated inflammatory disorders. However, information remains limited regarding the role of SIRT7 in intestinal inflammation. We used a murine colitis model to investigate the role of SIRT7 in intestinal immunity and whether SIRT7 inhibitors could attenuate the intestinal inflammatory response. Mice were divided into three groups: contro
BACKGROUND/AIMS: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is an important cause of various gastrointestinal diseases. H. pylori eradication is essential for the cure and prevention of associated diseases. Nowdays, proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-based triple therapy is the standard eradication regimen. The aims of this study were to compare the H. pylori eradication rate of different PPI-based triple therapies and to find out the factors influencing the eradication rate. METHODS: From May 2002 through Februa
Diet restriction is one of the difficult parts of bowel preparation for colonoscopy, and many patients do not follow instructions properly. Few studies have evaluated the impact of dietary restriction in real clinical setting. The aim of this study was to study the effect of diet control on bowel preparation with detailed investigation of unacceptable food list in order to reveal what kind of foods are most problematic in clinical practice.Prospective observational study was carried out at a uni
In HBeAg-positive CHB patients infected with genotype C HBV, preC variant was associated with enhanced host immune response with lower HBV DNA levels, whereas CP variants were associated with severe liver damage and liver fibrosis progression.
