Professor Byungmin Choi's research lab focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying apoptosis, cytoprotection, and stress responses in pathological and physiological conditions. The lab investigates key signaling molecules such as nitric oxide (NO), heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), and cAMP in regulating cell survival and death, particularly in contexts like neonatal cardiovascular disease, glucose deprivation injury, and cancer cell apoptosis. A central theme is the dual roles of signaling molecules in modulating cell fate, with translational applications in preterm infant diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.
