研究室紹介
Professor Dukgeun Moon's research lab focuses on regenerative medicine and urological interventions, with a strong emphasis on tissue engineering for skeletal muscle repair and soft tissue augmentation in genitourinary applications. The lab investigates bioengineering strategies such as bioreactor preconditioning of muscle constructs and explores molecular pathways like PI3K/Akt/mTOR in cancer therapy resistance. Additionally, the lab addresses clinical challenges in urological disorders, including nocturia and penile augmentation, through pharmacological and interventional approaches. A recurring theme is the development of safe, effective, and patient-centered solutions for reconstructive and aesthetic urology.

15The inability to engineer clinically relevant functional muscle tissue remains a major hurdle to successful skeletal muscle reconstructive procedures. This article describes an in vitro preconditioning protocol that improves the contractility of engineered skeletal muscle after implantation in vivo. Primary human muscle precursor cells (MPCs) were seeded onto collagen-based acellular tissue scaffolds and subjected to cyclic strain in a computer-controlled bioreactor system. Control constructs (s
INTRODUCTION: Despites the debates on penile girth enhancement (PGE), demands for enhancement are increasing. Recently, various fillers have been widely used for soft tissue augmentation with proven efficacy and safety. AIMS: To identify the feasibility and efficacy of PGE by injection of filler. METHODS: Fifty patients with subjective small penis who visited Korea University Guro outpatient clinic were enrolled and prospectively followed. Restylane Sub-Q (Q-med, Upssala, Sweden) was injected in
The PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway is a prototypic survival pathway and constitutively activated in many malignant conditions. Moreover, activation of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway confers resistance to various cancer therapies and is often associated with a poor prognosis. In this study, we explored the antitumor effect of NVP-BEZ235, a dual PI3K/mTOR inhibitor in cisplatin-resistant human bladder cancer cells and its synergistic interaction with cisplatin. A human bladder cancer cell line with cisplatin re
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the circadian variation of plasma antidiuretic hormone (ADH) and urine output in patients with severe nocturia (> three times per night) and to assess the effect of oral desmopressin on nocturnal urine output in these patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Twelve patients with severe nocturia and five age-matched controls without were assessed over 24 h (circadian sampling) during a 72-h hospital admission. Blood levels of ADH and changes of urine output were measured in the p
Glans penis augmentation (GPA) has received little attention from experts despite the existence of a subset of patients who may be dissatisfied with a small glans or poor tumescence of the glans during erection. Recently, GPA using an injectable filler or implantation of a graft or filler has been developed. Despite a demanding injection technique and inevitable uneven undulation of the glandular surface, GPA using injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) gel is a novel and useful therapy and an effectiv
AIM: To identify the sexual, emotional and psychological status of men who augmented their penis with mineral oil injection for their small penis. METHODS: Men who had penile paraffin were asked to answer the semi-structured questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed to assess the motivation, method of penile injection, changes in erectile function and satisfaction after penile injection. SCL (Symptom checklist)-90-R, STAI (State and Trait Anxiety Inventory) and Zung SDS (Self-rating depressi
Testosterone is an essential hormone required for the developmental growth and maintenance of the male phenotype during the whole life. With the increasing male life expectancy worldwide and development of adequate testosterone preparations, the prescription of testosterone has increased tremendously. Testosterone replacement should be based on low serum testosterone and related clinical symptoms. In the last two decades, with the accumulation of data, official recommendations have evolved in te
INTRODUCTION: Long-acting injectable testosterone undecanoate (TU, Nebido(®)), a new parenteral testosterone preparation, has recently been introduced to avoid frequent injections of the conventional injectable esters. AIMS: To assess the efficacy and safety of long-acting injectable testosterone undecanoate (TU, Nebido(®)) in Korean patients with testosterone deficiency syndrome (TDS). METHODS: One hundred thirty-three patients who complain of erectile dysfunction with serum testosterone level
This study was performed to assess serum testosterone alterations induced by paradoxical sleep deprivation (PSD) and to verify their attenuation during sleep recovery (SR) based on different durations and ages. Wistar male rats aged 12 weeks for the younger group and 20 weeks for the elder group were randomly distributed into one of the following groups: a control group (cage and platform), 3-day SD, 5-day SD, 7-day SD, 1-day SR, 3-day SR and 5-day SR groups. For PSD, the modified multiple platf
