Professor Eo-soo Kim's research lab focuses on the intersection of neuropsychiatry, metabolic health, and neurocognitive function, with a strong emphasis on understanding and mitigating cognitive and metabolic side effects associated with psychiatric treatments. The lab investigates the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive decline in conditions such as atrial fibrillation and Wernicke’s encephalopathy, while also exploring pharmacological interventions—like metformin and alpha-lipoic acid—to improve cognitive outcomes and metabolic parameters in psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. A key research direction involves evaluating the translational potential of metabolic modulators in neuroprotection and cognitive preservation.
