研究室紹介

Professor Eun-Jung Park's research lab focuses on the toxicological and biological effects of environmental and nanomaterial exposures, with a particular emphasis on nanomaterials, chemotherapeutic agents, and fatty acids. The lab investigates mechanisms of cytotoxicity, including doxorubicin-induced nephrotoxicity and the role of stress response proteins like ATF3, as well as the immunomodulatory and systemic effects of aluminum oxide nanoparticles. Additionally, the lab explores the protective effects of bioactive fatty acids, such as capric acid, on bone metabolism and inflammation. The research integrates in vitro and in vivo models to assess toxicity, biomarker discovery, and potential therapeutic interventions.

Although doxorubicin is commonly used in the treatment of many cancer types, its use in chemotherapy has been limited, largely because of its severe side effects, including cardiotoxicity and nephrotoxicity. In this study, we aimed to identify the mechanism of doxorubicin-induced cytotoxicity by using the human kidney proximal tubule cell line HK-2. Furthermore, we investigated the role of activating transcription factor 3 (ATF3) as a mediator of doxorubicin-induced cytotoxicity by using wild-ty
