Professor Hee Eun Kim's research lab specializes in clinical and translational neuroscience, with a focus on neuroimaging techniques such as MRI, DWI, and PET to investigate neurological and psychiatric disorders. The lab investigates brain pathology in conditions like migraine with aura, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and cerebrovascular diseases, emphasizing the role of neuroimaging in differentiating pathological substrates such as vasogenic vs. cytotoxic edema. 15The US/CT combination was found to be superior to US alone for the detection of metastatic lymph nodes in the lateral neck levels in PTC patients by level-by-level analysis.
Brain lesions were typically located at the cerebellar dentate nucleus, midbrain, dorsal pons, medulla, and splenium of the corpus callosum. According to DWI, most of the lesions in MIE probably corresponded to areas of vasogenic edema, whereas only some of them, located in the corpus callosum, corresponded to cytotoxic edema.
Adult stem cells have a great potential to treat various diseases. For these cell-based therapies, adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are one of the most promising stem cell types, including embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
