Professor Ho-Kyung Hwang's research lab specializes in pancreatic cancer and surgical oncology, with a focus on tumor immunology, surgical outcomes, and vascular preservation in pancreatic surgery. The lab investigates the role of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in patient survival, evaluates surgical techniques such as Braun anastomosis and spleen-preserving pancreatectomy to improve postoperative recovery, and explores the impact of comorbid conditions like new-onset diabetes on pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma prognosis. The lab also employs preclinical murine models to study the influence of splenectomy on tumor progression and metastasis.
