Professor Hyun-Suk Kim's research lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying age-related diseases, metabolic disorders, and cancer, with a particular emphasis on mitochondrial regulation, autophagy, and cellular metabolism. The lab investigates key signaling pathways such as SIRT3 in bone and metabolic homeostasis, explores natural products as therapeutic agents, and employs systems biology approaches to link bioactive compounds to their molecular targets. Additionally, the lab examines the role of autophagy in epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and cancer progression, as well as clinical correlates in diseases like polycystic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease in elderly populations.
