Professor Jae K. Kim's research lab specializes in advanced functional materials and their applications, with a strong focus on tunable photonic devices, such as metasurfaces and metalenses, for dynamic wavefront control and holography. The lab also investigates phase separation-driven nano- and micro-structured polymeric materials, including porous films and membranes, for applications in optics, sensing, and filtration. Additionally, the lab explores human-centered technology development, particularly in virtual reality, by modeling and predicting VR-induced sickness through interactions between human motion and the vestibular system. These interdisciplinary efforts bridge materials science, photonics, and human factors engineering to create smart, responsive, and user-friendly technologies.

We examined the atomic layer deposition (ALD) of silicon dioxide thin films on a silicon wafer by alternating exposures to tetrakis(ethylamino)silane [Si(NHC2H5)4] and O3.
