Professor Jae Woo Song's research lab specializes in translational biomedical imaging and hematology, focusing on the development and application of advanced imaging techniques—such as dual-energy CT and perfusion imaging—for improved diagnosis and prognosis in critical conditions like sepsis and lung nodules. The lab also investigates the pathophysiological roles of blood cell parameters, including the delta neutrophil index and platelet dynamics, with an emphasis on quantifying cellular responses in inflammatory and coagulation disorders. Additionally, the lab explores the genetic influences on hemostatic factors, particularly the impact of ABO blood groups on von Willebrand factor and factor VIII levels across diverse populations.

Procoagulant or impaired fibrinolytic states as well as inflammatory reactions mediated by cytokines are likely involved in the pathogenesis of acute ischemic stroke. We examined the potential relationship between interleukin 6 (IL-6) and hemostatic markers.
